Helping someone come home? Start here.
Family Mode helps you figure out what you can prepare, what they need to handle themselves, and what should happen next.
Supporting someone through reentry is one of the most important things you can do. This tool helps you understand what you can prepare before they come home, what they will need to handle themselves, and how to support them without taking over.
It takes about two minutes. Answer what you know — you can skip anything you are not sure about.
Family Mode is educational and planning support. It does not make legal, release-date, supervision, benefits, medical, custody, or eligibility determinations.
What is Family Mode?
Family Mode is for spouses, parents, children, siblings, friends, and anyone else helping someone prepare for release or navigate reentry. It helps you understand what you can do before they come home, what they will need to handle themselves, and how to support them without taking over.
The plan is organized by timeline — what needs to happen now, before release, on release day, in the first 72 hours, and in the first 30 days. It connects directly to other TPHP tools so you can find resources, practice calls, and build a preparation timeline.
Family Mode is educational and planning support. It does not make legal, release-date, supervision, benefits, medical, custody, or eligibility determinations. For official guidance, contact the relevant agency or a qualified provider.
